Anomaly detection - a case study

The purpose of the presentation is to take away the magic aura of Machine Learning. We will present some simple techniques that any software developer can try at home or in their project and have them up and running in a matter of hours.
During this presentation, we will be focusing on anomaly detection. A clustering algorithm with “embedded” anomaly detection will be described, as well as a simple method to detect anomalies in time series.

Horia Calborean, Software Architect
He has been a Software Developer for more than 10 years. He mostly worked on the Java stack. He received a PhD in Computer Science in 2011 where he applied Bio-Inspired algorithms for Computer Architectures’ multiobjective optimization. He is a Software Architect in Visma for the past 5 years.
He is currently interested in Software Architecture and designing scalable, future proof integrations between products. Also, he is interested in Machine Learning algorithms, currently focused on anomaly detection techniques.
